Continuing Education Units

Confined Space Entry courses are offered as 1-day or 2-day sessions that include both classroom and hands-on training. Lock-Out / Tag-Out (Control of Hazardous Energy) courses are offered as 1-day sessions that include both classroom training and interactive virtual exercises. Heavy Equipment Operations & Safety for these courses are offered as 1-day or 2-day sessions that include both classroom and hands-on training. Excavation & Trench Safety (Competent Person Certification)

The Excavation & Trench Safety (Competent Person Certification) training course is offered in both a 1-day on-site or virtual/online training format that includes classroom training, workshop activities, virtual exercises and knowledge testing. Hurricane Prep & Storm Recovery Operations

Water Utility Storm Preparations & Recovery discusses department level preparedness and reviews activities that should be performed on a calendar basis and on a timeline basis once an emergency is declared. Forklift Training & Certification

Forklift Training & Certification combines classroom training and hands-on exercises to give trainees the best knowledge on how to properly operate a forklift, travel with loads and work with elevated loads. Participants must successfully pass an obstacle course featuring machine operation prep, fork elevator operation, special tasks (attachments)  and more in order to receive their certificate. Aerial Reach Equipment

Aerial Reach Equipment teaches proper protocol for fall protection and fall arrest systems, basic boom and basket operations, emergencies and rescues and more. This course combines classroom training and hands-on exercises. Participants are walked through how to put on and use correct PPE in order to ensure safe training at all times. Bucket Truck Operations & Safety

Bucket Truck Operations & Safety utilizes both classroom and outside exercises to teach machine orientation, rules for ground crew, work zone hazard analysis and more. Participants will leave learning how to respond to bucket truck emergencies and how to set-up external work zones for temporary traffic control. Storm Water Fundamentals & Inspection

This class provides students with an understanding about the requirements for erosion and sediment control for construction. Class teaches the various types of erosion and how to select and install best management practices to prevent erosion and control sediment on job-sites. Dump Truck Operations & Safety

This class offered as individual 1-day sessions each that include both classroom and hands-on training. Designed for experienced and new operators, students will participate in an in-depth review on the equipment’s basic operations and safety for experienced and new operators. Classroom portion includes vehicle orientation, work zone set-up, pre-job checklists and more. Trailering & Load Securement Safety

This course is offered as a 1-day session that includes both classroom and hands-on training. Recommended for employees who load, transport, and unload mobile equipment and other objects, the classroom portion will review hazards and accident scenarios, proper vehicle size to trailer size, proper operation/locking of hitch types, safety chains, lights, trailer brakes, load securement principles, and more. Classroom portion includes review of proper pre-load positioning areas, pre-load inspections of equipment, review of various securement devices, object load securement and more. Chain Saw Operations & Safety

This course is a 1-day training session that is recommended for persons who engage in ground limb/vegetation debris removal. The classroom portion of this course reviews accident case studies, PPE, basic safe work practices, power line issues and other typical hazards. The hands-on portion of this class includes hazard assessment, chainsaw pre-inspection, correct machine start-up and handling / positioning and more. Basic Electrical Safety

A 1-day training session that is applicable for employees who are occupationally exposed to potential electrical hazards. The course includes principles of electrical safety, lockout-tagout, worksite safety engineering, and PPE/special clothing. Additional topics include basic electrical theory and systems, effects of electrical energy on the human body, maintenance of de-energized/partially de-energized/ energized systems, safe clearance distances/boundaries, arc flash potential/protection, and more. Water/Wastewater Utility Chemical Safety

provides basic information related to the OSHA HazCom program and hazardous chemicals. This 1-day course ensures that workers understand and minimize risks associated with occupational exposure to hazardous chemicals. Course includes review of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical receiving/storage/labeling/signage/transportation, safety engineering of the work site, and usage of PPE.
